Jean Monnet Project Head 2016 - 2018

Assist. Prof. Dr. Sunčana Roksandić Vidlička lectures criminal law, economic criminal law, transitional justice, EU substantive criminal law and the protection of victims and bioethics and human rights as part of her position as assistant professor at the Department of criminal law. She obtained her PhD in 2015 (Zagreb) and 2016 (Freiburg) as a doctorate  sholarship holder and doctoral candidate of the Criminology Department at Max Planck Institute of Foreign and International Criminal Law (summa cum laude).  Her book, based on her doctoral research under the title Prosecuting serious economic crimeas as international crimes, a new mandate for the ICC?  was published in 2017 by Duncker&Humblot, Berlin.

She obtained her Master of Science Degree in Company and Commercial Law at the Faculty of law, University of Zagreb and graduated at the same Faculty of Law.  After graduation, she worked seven years in legal practice, first as as he legal trainee in the law firm Bogdanovic, Dolicki & Partneri later as legal adviser to Croatian Medical Chamber. She passed Croatian bar exam.

She is the Head of the Croatian Unit for the International Network of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and a member of UNODC Anti-Corruption Academic Initiative.  She is a member of the Max Planck Partner Group for Balkan Criminology. She is the head of Jean Monnet Project Advanced Seminar in EU Criminal Law and Policy (2016-2019) and (co)founder and (co)director of the course under same name that is held every year at the Interunivesity Center Dubrovnik. Sunčana Roksandić Vidlička acted as expert in national and international projects and as national expert in the implemetation of EU directives. She was a member of Working Groups of Ministry of Justice drafting Law on Protection of People with Mental Disabilities (full memeber) and Criminal Code (external memeber) and president of the Working group of ministry of health on unifying provisions of informed consent. She is a member in the national group on evaluation of the risk of anti-money laundering and financing of terrorism. In 2017 she was a (co-) rapporteur for AIDP on the topic individual criminal responsibility of businessman for international crimes.

She was an invited guest professor at Lomonosov University, Faculty of Law in October 2017 (Moscow, Russia). In 2016 (April) she was lecturing in Shanghai, China.

In 2011 she received the Annual Award for the best young scientist in social sciences by the Society of University Professors and other Scientists of the University of Zagreb. In 2015, she participated in the USA International Visitor Leadership Program "Women Countering Violent Extremism"

She has published, besides Croatian, in English, Croatian and German, primarily in the areas that intelink the protection of internationally organized human rights and criminal law. The list of her publications is available online: She participated as a keynote and invited participant in many national, regional and international conferences and workshops and (co)orgnaized the same.

She is member of the Executive Board of Croatian Assoication for Criminal Law Sciences and Practice and is part of Editoral Board of Zagrebačka Pravna Revija. Besides, she is member of  (international) criminal law and criminology associations.

She coatched moot court teams and serve as judge in national, regional and international competition. She was a founder of the Group of Protection of Patients rights at the Legal Clinic of ther Faculty of law. She is a member of the Committee on enhancing the excellence of the students at the Facutly of law, University of Zagreb.
