2018 ADVANCED SEMINAR
"Enhancement of Victims Protection within the EU: Building Mutual Trust Between the EU Member States"

The main objective of the 2018 Advanced Seminar was to transfer advanced knowledge and understanding of the EU Criminal Law and Policy dealing with the Enhancement of Victims Protection within the EU: Building Mutual Trust Between the EU Member States. The Advanced Seminar provided a venue not only for transfer of knowledge to students and young researchers, but also for an intense academic dialogue between eminent experts in the field (including policy makers), with the aim to create a sustainable network. The course lecturers addressed the topics such as: protection of victims, establishment of the EU prosecutor, fake news, online hate speech, etc.
Prior to the Advanced Seminar in Dubrovnik, Mark Drumbl, a visiting academic from Lexington, United States, delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb.

A number of students from multiple countries in Europe and beyond actively participated in the Advanced Seminar. In order to graduate from the course and receive the 4 ECTS points awarded by the University of Zagreb, students had to give a 10-15 minute short presentations on a relevant topic. The presentations proved success and inspired insightful discussions.
